Health Update: As usual, I’m writing this in bits and pieces. Wednesday, 11-13-2024. was the last day I was required to wear my splint 24 hours a day (except for showering). I took it off before I showered that morning, and will leave it off from now on, except for a while when I sleep. It feels strange, but I’m getting used to it.
Thursday, 11-21-2024: This morning I had the follow-up with my cardiologist. I’m still in A-Fib, so the electrical cardioversion treatment didn’t work. I’m in no danger from the A-Fib as long as I continue to take my blood thinner to prevent strokes, The only other treatment for A-Fib without open heart surgery is ablation. A device (a laser?) is inserted through a vein in my leg, up into the heart, and part of the heart is cauterized, allowing the heart to beat in a normal rhythm. We’re discussing it, but are just going to treat it with medication for now, monitor my pulse, and have a follow-up in a few months before we discuss the possibility of ablation.
Friday, 11-29-2024 – Literary Update: I have been writing a little, which is good for a change. It’s still slower than I would like, but I’m managing. Also, I didn’t occur to me before, but when I’m stuck on any particular section of Flood and Fire I could pause working on it and edit part of Jagged Man. Since they are both the same story I don’t even need to switch mental gears to a different plot. That way I can make some progress on both books and will have a shorter editing time after I finish Flood and Fire.
A lot of things I used to do (like full body exercising three days a week, washing dishes, other household chores, shopping, etc., are forbidden for now). I’m not chained to my computer as much as I used to (although I am chained to the house more than I’d like since I can’t drive myself until I get the all-clear about my hand from my doctor).
