An Ablation Delayed…

Hi,

A Medical Update:

A few posts ago I said that my heart ablation would take place on May 21st. Today is May 21st, but the ablation isn’t going to happen for a while. I just got home from the hospital last night, after having a full hip replacement. Friday evening (May 16th), Minay and I were sitting on the couch when the doorbell rang. I hustled toward the door in case it was a neighbor or a friend, and tripped on a object on the floor. I twisted my already falling body to keep from landing on my face, and landed on my right hip instead.

The femur was split in two, just inches from the hip socket. Sunday morning they popped that top part of the femur out through a decent-sized incision in my gluteus maximus, replaced it with a cobalt hip thingy (the technical term), and cemented the base of it into the top of my femur. The leg is in great shape, but the muscles are going to need some lengthy retraining.

I’m going to stop there because this is becoming increasingly difficult to write (there wasn’t a single sentence — including this one — that I didn’t have back up and correct the spelling).

More later.

Michael
