Hi,
According to the ECG they took a couple of weeks ago, I still have AFib. The amiodorone I have been taking (twice a day) kept my pulse rate within a certain range (which is good), but the AFib is still there.
I’m supposed to see a specialist in a couple of weeks to talk about having an ablation (during which a laser burns the area that causes the AFib), and also we’ll discuss inserting a Watchman device at the same time. The Watchman’s purpose is to block the left atrial chamber (a small side chamber in the atrium), so blood can’t pool there. Both are supposed to be relatively simple procedures. The advantage to the Watchman would be that I could (possibly) stop taking Eliquis.
Decisions, Decisions.
This was also an interestingly busy few weeks for both Minay and me. I’ll do a post about all of that next time.
Stay tuned.
Michael
