The Jagged Man is Finally Out

[Originally posted on my former blog, Michael Runs the Gamut]

I had tweeted about it on Twitter, and posted about it on the Jagged Man website.

[2021 Note: The Jagged Man website is currently dead. It will likely be resuscitated when a second edition of the book goes on sale. Sometime in 2023?]

Although I have mentioned prepping it for publication here, it occurred to me a few minutes ago that I hadn’t officially announced it here on my writing blog (too many websites to take care of).

So, I just want to officially say: The Jagged Man was released as an ebook on January 26, 2015. The final cover is below. Click on it to go to a sales page for the book. Buy a copy. You’ll like it, and you might keep an old guy off the street corner with a coffee can and a sign.  (8^)

I just finished the book. What a great way to spend a chilly day off: a hot pot of tea, drowsy cats by my side, and a stretch of time to enjoy the final chapters of an adrenaline-producing book. Michael Sirois, you have a wicked imagination! I have been limiting my reading of your book to lunch breaks at work, mostly. I’ve reached a point in my literary life where I read largely for the pure pleasure of the act, and I’m always reading at least 4, 5, 6 books at a time. I’m more interested in the journey than the final destination. I get attached to characters and don’t want to lose them too quickly. I read a lot every day – a couple of newspapers; magazines on-line and in print; friend’s blogs, facebook, our world offers a wealth of words for daily consumption. But this book got in the way of my other reading, not to mention a few late nights and strange dreams. If Jagged Man contains any hint of what you might publish next, I will have to just block out a long weekend and read to the finish. Mid-2015, you say? That’s too long. Do you need another proofreader? I’m really interested in Monarchs, you know.

Friends, read this book!

Hi, Virginia–

Thanks for your kind words about the book.

I hope to have a few more books available this year. If a Butterfly is definitely next in line, and will be published as two books. The first several drafts and polishes of Butterfly were actually finished before Jagged Man, but was frustratingly difficult to explain to potential agents (sex, multiple characters, all on journeys, some on earth, some in space, sex, storms, car wrecks, people lost in canyons, rants on the radio, sex — and a butterfly). In many respects, it’s ready to go, but I need to design covers, do final edits, etc. It could be ready before summer 2015 (maybe).

[Butterfly was finally published in December 2021.]

After Butterfly, I will probably publish something called A Mixed Bag (a collection of short stories, one novella, some poetry, a one-act play and some other stuff).

[Mixed Bag is on the back burner for now. Jagged Man (2nd edition), and Jagged Man’s prequel (Flood and Fire), are in line ahead of it.]

Michael
